With the created learning environment and guidebook, teachers can now more effectively address socially sensitive topics.

We asked five recipients of honorary decorations what makes the University of Tartu special to them.

On 25 October, the University of Tartu senate decided to award the University of Tartu Grand Medal to Professor of International Business Urmas Varblane. Also, the recipients of the University of Tartu Star of Appreciation, Medal, Badge of Distinction and the decoration “100 Semesters at the University of Tartu” have been announced.

Associate Professor of Analytical Chemistry and head of the Archemy research group, Ester Oras, has been awarded the honorary title Woman Scientist of the Year.

On 2 October, the footprints of statistician Ene-Margit Tiit, the University of Tartu Professor emerita, were added to the Tartu Pioneers’ Alley next to the Tasku Centre.

The educational programme Schools in Motion of the Move Lab of the University of Tartu Faculty of Medicine was elected the Education Deed of the Year.

On 27 September, the University of Latvia conferred an Honorary Doctorate on Riho Altnurme, Vice Dean for Research of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and Professor of Church History. The diploma was handed to him at the University of Latvia’s formal senate meeting dedicated to the university’s 105th anniversary.

Until 31 October, nominations can be submitted for the “Contribution to Estonian National Identity” award.

The University of Tartu received the silver level of the award "Supporter of defenders of the state" from the Ministry of Defence for its outstanding contribution to the support of Estonian defenders of the state.
