The University of Tartu is in the top 350 of the world's universities (see Rankings and Surveys). It is the leading university in Estonia and one of the top universities in Northern Europe.
The University of Tartu is also one of the oldest universities in Northern and Eastern Europe. It was founded in 1632 by King Gustavus Adolphus of Sweden. The University of Tartu is the only classical university in Estonia. It preserves the culture and language of the Estonian people as Estonia's National University.

We teach in five of the largest cities in Estonia, with most of our units located in Tartu, the student capital of Estonia.
