Speech by Rector of the University of Tartu Professor Toomas Asser at the ceremony marking the 105th anniversary of Estonia’s national university on 1 December 2024.
On 15 November, at a conference dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Johan Kõpp’s birth, Rector Toomas Asser was presented with Kõpp’s anniversary medal.
On 10 October, MTÜ Peaasjad gave recognition to organisations that value mental health. At the conference focusing on mental health and well-being at work, the University of Tartu received a silver label.
The newly elected director said that the University of Tartu School of Law has a special mission to ensure the raising of a new generation of Estonian lawyers.
During the preparation of the new strategic plan, university members are invited to consider how societal trends affect the future of the university. In addition, feedback is sought on the areas where the university should make a leap forward to best serve society in the changing world.
On 17 and 18 September, heads of the university’s support units, members of the Rector’s Strategy Office, the vice rector for development, the director of administration and the academic secretary visited Pärnu College to discuss the new strategic plan and related issues.
On 17 June, the University of Tartu council and senate held a joint session where one of the topics was drafting the new strategic plan. The council and senate members also discussed evaluation criteria for selecting the focus themes of the strategic plan.
