The University of Tartu values good teaching and gives out annual awards to recognise its members’ outstanding achievements in giving higher education, doing research and serving society to value their visibility at the university and in society. In giving out the annual awards, the university proceeds from its strategic plan and good practices.
The award recognises up to three learning actions (including individuals or teams) that value effective collaboration, development, and innovation in university degree and continuing education. Proposals may be submitted by the dean or the head of the structural unit or jointly by at least five students, continuing education learners or university staff.
The award recognises a university institute, college or faculty for successfully designed, implemented and effective activities that support the quality of education. The prize for promoting the quality of education is a prize in the amount of 30,000 euros. The award is given to the work done in 3 years in cooperation with colleagues to develop learning.
The University of Tartu teaching staff of the year award is given to recognise one academic staff member in all faculties.
Lecturers can apply for a quality label for their e-course once a year in the open application round.
As a result of the application round for the e-course quality label, e-courses that meet the quality requirements will be awarded a quality label and nominees will be nominated for the award of "e-course of the year". The e-course of the year is selected once an academic year and is announced after the application round for the quality label.
