Estonian space education and space technology are entering a new phase. On 22 August, the University of Tartu (UT), Tallinn University of Technology and the Estonian Student Satellite Foundation signed an official cooperation agreement to initiate a joint space programme running for at least three years.

On 18 August, the Minister for Justice of Sweden Gunnar Strömmer met with Rector Toomas Asser, Director of the School of Law Priit Pikamäe, Deputy Director for Research of the School of Law Aleksei Kelli and the Head of International Cooperation Kristi Kerge.

The company Trigon OÜ has decided to integrate into its accounting software a solution developed during a machine learning course at the University of Tartu’s Institute of Computer Science.

The UNCAN-Connect project (Decentralized Collaborative Network for Advancing Cancer Research and Innovation), led by the Estonian Cancer Network (ESTCAN) at the University of Tartu, aims to establish an international cancer data sharing platform to facilitate cancer prevention, monitoring, research, and treatment.

In June, all interested are invited to communal work in the Maarjavälja experimental area (between Viljandi road and the University of Tartu Physicum) and at Jaamamõisa stream.

In the competition for entrepreneurship promoters 2025, organised by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications, the Kobar innovation hub and the technology school // kood were named Estonia’s best entrepreneurship promoters. They will represent Estonia in the European Enterprise Promotion Awards competition in Copenhagen in October.

Staff and students of the University of Tartu are invited to apply for the ENLIGHT Teaching and Learning Conference 2025, which will be held in Uppsala from 8 to 10 October. The central theme of this year’s conference is Playfulness in the Future of Higher Education.

Teaching staff of the University of Tartu are encouraged to nominate their course for the ENLIGHT Teaching and Learning Award 2025, which will be presented at the annual Teaching and Learning Conference held in Uppsala, Sweden, from 8 to 10 October. The central theme of this year’s conference will be Playfulness for the Future of Higher Education.

On 25 April, the solar car Solaride III Enefit was presented in the underground car park of the University of Tartu Delta academic building.

The winner of the three rectors’ scholarship competition, which was held for the eighth time this year, is Arnita Agrita Umalas, who was born and raised in Latvia but is studying Estonian language and linguistics at the University of Tartu, focusing on the Livonian language in her master’s thesis.
